3 Days Murchison Falls Safari Uganda Wildlife Tour – Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park & Visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary Enroute

Following an early morning breakfast, the driver guide will pick you up from your place of stay in Kampala, embark on a drive transfer to Murchison Falls National Park in the northwest of Uganda 311km about 5 hours drive without en-route stopovers.

The drive journey will take you through the fascinating flat landscape of Nakasongora dotted with long horned Ankole cows.

You will have a perfect stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary located just 7km from the main road at Nakitoma 115km from Kampala.

Explore the only white Rhinos in Uganda protected in the savannah thicket of Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Have lunch at Kabalega dinner and thereafter advance with the drive to Murchison Falls National Park for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Accommodation: Paraa Safari Lodge (Upmarket/Luxury), Pakuba Safari Lodge (Mid-range/Standard) or Heritage Safari Lodge (Budget/Basic).

Day 2: Do Morning Game Drive, Afternoon Boat Cruise & Hike to the Top of the Falls

Right after an early morning cup of coffee, you will embark on an early morning game drive through the park tracks in search of unique wild game like elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, waterbuck, Jackson hartebeest, oribis among others with predators protected not far from them including lion, leopard among others.

The game drives through the delta area, Buligi tracks, Albert, and Queen Tracks offer you a memorable wildlife viewing experience.

Disembark from the 3 – 4 hour activity and get to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. After lunch, you will embark on a boat cruise that sets off at 2:30 pm.

The boat on the Nile to the bottom of the world’s most powerful fall -Murchison Falls is very fascinating.

The boat cruise will offer you an opportunity of viewing exclusive wild games like Hippos, crocodiles, and Buffaloes when they are drinking on the riverside.

It will also draw you closer to the point where you will have a glimpse of a wide- range of water birds such as the popular Shoebill Stork.

After exploring the cruise to the bottom of the falls, embark on the hike to the top of the falls following a narrow challenging but highly interesting path to the top enjoying the roaring sounds of the Nile as it clashes its head on the impermeable rocks that have narrowed its way to less than 8m for centuries past. Retire overnight.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking in Budongo Forest & Transfer to Kampala

Wake up very early in the morning for a cup of coffee and after which you proceed to catch up with an early morning ferry crossing.

You will cross the river to catch up with the chimpanzee trekking experience at 8:00 pm in Budongo forest.

When you arrive at the forest, you will be briefed about the rules and regulations of chimpanzee trekking at Budongo forest.

Thereafter, you will be led by an experienced guide to search for the chimps and along the way, you may enjoy the sights of different bird species and other primate species.

After trekking the chimpanzees, you will be allocated one hour to stay with the primates. Retire after one hour to the starting point and embark on the drive to Kampala having your lunch en-route.

Arrive in Kampala late in the evening and you will be driven to your hotel or lodge for dinner and overnight.
