3 Days Congo Gorilla Trek (3 Days Congo Gorilla Safari In Virunga National Park) – Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at Kanombe International Airport in Kigali & Transfer to Goma Town in DR Congo.

As soon as you land at Kanombe International Airport in Rwanda, you will be met by our experienced driver-guide who will warmly welcome you and then take you to any nearby hotels in Kigali city for refreshment and briefing about the tour.

Thereafter, you depart Kigali driving to   Goma town in DRC. The drive journey of 184kms about 3-4 hours without en route stopovers while rewarding you with scenic views of rolling picture hills of Rwanda before crossing to Congo.

When you cross the border, you will start feeling the excitement of green, scenic DR Congo. On arrival in Goma town, you will proceed to the lodge to check-in, have dinner, and overnight.

Day 2: Early Morning Gorilla Trekking in Virunga National Park.

Right after taking an early morning breakfast, you will leave your lodge very early to drive to the Bukima sector of Virunga national park.

On arrival, you will register and join the briefing session from the senior park rangers about the etiquette to follow while trekking the apes in the hilly forested natural habitat of Virunga National Park.

After the briefing, you will be led to the trailheads in the Bukima police post to start the trek when looking for the mountain gorillas in their serene environment of Virunga National Park.

After 1-4 hours of trek depending on the movement of the mountain gorillas, you will come closer to the apes.

Once up close to the mountain gorillas, you will be required to wear surgical masks that are offered to you when confronting the gorillas in their natural habitat of Virunga National Park.

You will be allocated one magical hour to spend with the mountain gorillas and during this time you can decide to sit down and watch gorillas carry on with their daily activities of feeding, and caring for young ones.

You will remain close to the beautiful apes while observing them, photographing, and as soon as the one hour is over, you will retreat to the starting point and thereafter, embark on a drive back to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.

Day 3: Transfer From Goma to Kanombe International Airport For Your Departing Flight.

Following an early morning breakfast at your respective lodge in Goma, you will depart Goma driving back to Kigali.

The driver-guide will drive slowly to allow you to capture the magnificent scenic views of the picturesque hills and landscape of DR Congo as well as the land of Thousand Hills-Rwanda.

As soon as you arrive in Kigali, you will have your lunch, and after lunch proceeds to the Airport for your onward flight back home.
